Birding in Extremadura is a portal created by the Culture and Tourism Council of the Autonomous Government of Extremadura that is devoted to the promotion of ornithological tourism in this region.

The different sections contain all of the necessary information about the different species of birds, their habitats, the variety of routes and itineraries through the most interesting places for birdwatching and the recommended seasons, services for tourists and absolutely everything needed to plan an birdwatching trip and take the best advantage of your stay in Extremadura.

The Field Notebook section contains the most interesting sightings and observations of the species found in the region. It is intended to be a dynamic space for exchanging information, open to all ornithologists and enthusiasts that wish to contribute their sightings to create a collective field notebook with updated information about the species and the best places to see them. The Field Notebook will also include the most important bird-related events in the region (phenology of the different species, places and dates of interest, etc.).

In addition to the sightings included in the Field Notebook, the Trip Reports section contains summaries of birdwatching trips sent in by birdwatching enthusiasts and represents a valuable source of information for orientation and assistance to all who come to our region to enjoy its ornithological richness.

The publications section contains updated information to complement your birdwatching trip: touristic guides, directories of resources, associations, etc..., which will make it possible to learn about the our region's rich cultural and natural heritage.

This portal also will announce all of the events and conferences related to birdwatching tourism to enrich our trip with attendance at the different competitions, conferences and events that are organised periodically in our region, such as the International Birdwatching Fair which, in the space of just a few years has become a reference and meeting point for birdwatching professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Lastly, this portal provides a guide to services and companies specialised in birdwatching tourism, lodgings and restaurants, with all of the information needed to plan your trip.
